Neighborhood

I love walking down the creek to the beach and the walkway to Sea Cliff Beach Pier and looking out at the Shipwreck. Love sitting outside at Cafe Rio and ordering the grilled artichoke. This area is pretty mellow and the ocean really is a marine sanctuary. I always see seals by the shore and dolphins frolicking about and certain times of the year loads of whales. Free admission to Sea World out there and with the birds and everything it's like something out of National Geographic at times.

Transit

Not too much public transportation. Some bus access, Uber and Lyft are available, bring your bike, great area for walking. It's best seen with a car especially if you want to check out all the local activity including kayaking, whale watching, hiking, wine tasting, sailing, Nisene State Park, Monterey, Carmel, Moss Landing, Cabrillo College, UC Santa Cruz, Downtown Santa Cruz, and the Beach Boardwalk.

Liz’s place is very clean and private. The neighborhood is great and the little patio area is charming. The studio is small and even though there is a two burner hotplate available, it might be difficult to actually cook a meal. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby.

#1 fantastic location and dog friendly! We lived in Aptos for 30 years and returned for a visit with our pup and this was perfect for us. It is very close to Rio del Mar beach and easy walking to the village with restaurants. It was very clean and well supplied. We loved the nice little enclosed patio and enjoyed our meals on the patio since the weather was gorgeous. No question, this is our future go-to place for Aptos visits!

We had a wonderful stay! The space is cozy but perfectly equipped with everything we needed, including a kitchenette and a great patio for our dog. The location is unbeatable—just a very short walk to the beach. One quick tip for future guests: be sure to double-check that your car is locked at night. We accidentally left ours unlocked and had some items taken. Besides this incident, we felt the neighborhood was safe and welcoming.

So glad I found Liz’s studio in Aptos. I had booked it with the walking distance to the beach in mind. Turns out it was rainy for my trip, so no beach for me. But the serene setting of the patio, while I didn’t use it because of the rain, still helped me have vacation vibes while stuck inside. I was on a solo trip away from my 15 month old, so enjoyed that it was such a quiet street. Perfect setting for a little solo getaway!

Super clean and cozy, I always wake up happy! Just perfect for myself and two dogs, everything you need for a quiet coffee, breakfast on the patio and peaceful walk to the beach. 1/3 mile to the sand, three short blocks along the creekside. Beautiful inside and out, clean and well kept, it's always a pleasure to stay here, I'll be back!
